Finally I can share with you our bedroom make-over with this beautiful scrapwoord wallpaper from Arte International. From the whole Our Cairo Home project this room was the last one to finish. I am curious what you think!
Our Bedroom make-over – Before and After
Do you remember the first Our Cairo Home video where I give you a hometour in our house before the whole renovation projects started? If you see the photo’s below you will probably remember our bedroom. The dark brown tiles on the floor, the soft pink walls and the beautiful doors, only in the wrong colour. For the bedroom I first had the idea to paint all the walls soft blue but Mahmoud wanted everything white. And after all I think that’s a good choice. The Classic White from Jotun makes everything looks fresh immediately. Also the shish ( doors ) we painted white. First I was thinking to give it an accent colour but after all I thought it was better to keep one neutral look. And it worked!
What a huge difference right? That’s what I love about the power of paint and colour, a room can get a whole other look when you choose the right colours.
Scrapwood wallpaper by Arte International
I am so happy with our new bedroom! The bedroom make-over really changed the room completly. The white walls makes the room so fresh and even all the brown doors are now shining in white. But with all the white walls I felt something was missing. The room wasn’t finished yet. So then I came up with the idea to put the Scrapwood wallpaper from Arte International behind our bed. It looks in this way some how as a huge headboard, and I love it! The wallpaper actually looks so real so it feels like we have some real wood in our bedroom. It fits the style we wanted. And before I had the idea to hang frames etc above the bed but I wanted it to keep the clean and neutral look, so for now I am very excited about this.
And, we created an art wall in the other corner of the bedroom. More about that later. My wish was a white wooden floor for the bedroom but because we already exceed our budget we choose for carpeting. I know how important a floor is for the look of the space but for now this is the best option. You can imagine that our priority was the floor in the livingroom ;).
Colour palette for the bedroom
For our bedroom the first idea was to make it white, grey and different shades of blue. But then I found this big pink carpet in the office which I designed myself and I thought it was perfect! It’s handwoven by weavers here in Egypt. It was a sample for my own collection but as I am not completely satisfied with it yet for a real collection I didn’t continue yet. But stay tuned because the wish to create my own kelim collection is still here :). So back to the rug, the colour fits very good with the blue tones and it changes our bedroom in a more pastel scandinavian look. And funny enough this cushion of Fest Amsterdam is a good match, the colours are almost the same.
The nightstands got a huge make-over too. First they were dark brown but we liked the shape of it, but not the colour ofcourse. So we painted them in the colour Sea Emerald by Jotun. Voila! New customized nightstands for our bedroom make-over.
